Vacuum Casting is good alternative to injection molding for low-cost tooling for manufacturing large complex shapes using wide range composite materials with a great plastic parts result.
Reinforcement is placed in the silicone molds previously created with a master model in the form of layers of dry, woven fabric. This is covered by a peel ply and the whole lot is vacuum bagged.
Resin is released and sucked into the bag by the vacuum, flowing through and impregnating the fabric as a casting vacuum , which is then cured. After the products is ready we can apply some surface finish like high polishing or overmolding
The silicone mold is place inside the machine and material soon injected into the mold to form the product shape, the materials are incorporated into each other under vacuum and then poured into the silicone mold by gravity
